I started a Fable book club a while back. It’s called Poetry for Poets and is still pretty small but has been fun so far. Somehow we ended up reading a poet from a different country every month and I decided to try to keep that going. Here’s our previous reading list (links are to Goodreads):
- UK – Poetry by John Keats
- Poland – Sounds, Feelings, Thoughts: Seventy Poems by Wislawa Szymborska
- US – flower crowns and fearsome things by amanda lovelace
- Australia – Time Will Tell by Courtney Peppernell
- South Korea – Autobiography of Death by Kim Hyesoon
- Palestine – You Can Be the Last Leaf: Selected Poems by Maya Abu Al-Hayyat
- Brazil – More Salt Than Diamond by Aline Mello (this was written while she lived in the US and from the perspective of someone living in here illegally but she was born in Brazil and several poems address her heritage and home country)
We’re currently reading Starfish Blossoms by Samantha Rumbidzai Vazhure who is from Zimbabwe.
It’s a little early to vote on next month’s collection but it’ll be somewhere new. Join us!
I’m also always looking for suggestions
